CompLaw360 and IP Law 360 Publish Column Regarding Antitrust Implications of Google Books Settlement Co-Authored by Kotchen & Low

July 31, 2009, New York - CompLaw 360 and IP Law 360 both published an article today co-authored by Daniel Kotchen, Daniel Low, and Bert Foer - the President of the American Antitrust Institute, which encourages the Department of Justice to take an active role in analyzing and addressing the potential anticompetitive effects of the Google Books settlement. As the authors explain, the settlement raises several competitive concerns, including concerns regarding collective licensing that are similar to those that the DOJ has previously addressed in consent decrees with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers ("ASCAP") and Broadcast Music Inc. ("BMI").
