Alicia Gutiérrez is counsel at Kotchen & Low LLP. Her main practice areas include complex commercial litigation, counseling, and representing clients before government agencies. Ms. Gutiérrez previously worked in private practice and has significant business experience, including working as an investment banker, management consultant, and in business development at a national media company.
While in private practice, Ms. Gutiérrez has focused on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on antitrust matters. Ms. Gutiérrez's experience includes litigating matters involving many different antitrust theories, such as price fixing, refusals to deal, monopolization, attempted monopolization, and conspiracies to monopolize. Her experience also includes working on cases with consumer protection, fraud, and contract-related claims. Ms. Gutiérrez has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal actions, represented clients in government agency investigations and litigation, and conducted internal investigations. Ms. Gutiérrez developed particular expertise working with clients in the financial industry, including representing a plaintiff in an antitrust case in the credit card industry that resulted in a multi-billion dollar settlement.
Prior to practicing law, Ms. Gutiérrez worked in business for many years. She was an investment banker at Merrill Lynch where she advised both national and international companies in the transportation, defense, and pharmaceutical industries on debt and equity financings and mergers and acquisitions. She also worked at The Boston Consulting Group where she advised clients in a number of industries, such as retailers, consumer product companies and financial institutions, on strategic business issues including branding, entry into new market segments and improving relationships with both suppliers and consumers. Additionally, she worked in business development at Univision Communications where she focused on developing their internet presence, including the launch of their web portal.
Ms. Gutiérrez received her JD/MBA from Stanford University. She also holds an AB from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
Ms. Gutiérrez was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She enjoys travel, photography, and painting. |
